Client Interview
Carrie wanted to highlight certain aspects of her professional services, such as:
-
she would provide in-person as well as remote therapy
-
she was licensed in both California and New York
-
she provided services to adults as well as children
-
she had special certification to help people with Parkinson's Disease
-
she was experienced in training clients to use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices.
Competitive Analysis
We looked at other speech pathology websites for inspiration. Most websites had a contact form, a free consultation, a list of services, and teletherapy options.
Personas
Based on Carrie's preferences and the competitive analysis, I created two personas. One was an older client with Parkinson's. The other was a mother with a young child. When building the websites, it was helpful to refer to to these theoretical clients to make sure all of our choices were customer-centric.
Wireframes
I used the Balsamiq app to create quick wireframes and ensure Carrie and I were in agreement with basic organization and layout.
Design System
The Logo
Carrie already had created a logo that showed a smiling mouth and tongue.
The Fonts

Insurance Concerns
Carrie revealed that one great hurdle people faced when pursuing speech therapy was in determining whether insurance would cover their services.
Location Concerns
Another thing people needed to know was whether they lived within the service area for a Tongue Trainers therapist.
Answering Questions
To answer these and other questions, an FAQ page was added.
